What Moms Really Need This Mother’s Day
The Way We Love, The Way We Pour, and The Way We Forget Ourselves
This blog was originally going to be another Mother’s Day gift guide.
But as I listened to all the noise around the “perfect” gifts for moms, I found myself thinking about something deeper.
This time of year can feel overwhelming for everyone: the gift givers trying to find the “right” thing to make mom happy, and the moms creating a wishlist when, in reality, what they may need most is breathing room.
A moment to rest. Time away from carrying every emotional thought, responsibility, and expectation.

Now, Mother’s Day is a beautiful celebration, but…
What if we made this a day for moms not to “mom”?
A day where they don’t have to plan, organize, solve problems, or pour into everyone else first.
Just a day to feel cared for.
The Emotional Labor Mothers Carry
We love deeply.
We give freely.
We show up, over and over again.
And somewhere in between all of that… we forget ourselves.
Sixteen years ago, this past April, I lost my mom.
One thing I remember most about her wasn’t just how much she loved us, but how much she dreamed. The places she wanted to go, the experiences she talked about having.
But like so many women, she was always pouring into everything and everyone else. Life kept moving, responsibilities never end… and so many of those dreams were left waiting

Watching that at a young age stayed with me. I didn’t fully understand it then, but I felt it. And now, as an adult and as a mother, I understand it in a completely different way.
Because life doesn’t slow down on its own.
There is always something to do.
Someone to show up for.
Another responsibility to take on.
And if we’re not careful, we can spend years giving… without ever truly experiencing.
That realization changed me.
It taught me that experiencing life fully requires intention.
Motherhood, Burnout, and Learning to Slow Down
Rest shouldn’t be something you “earn” after burnout. It’s something you choose daily, even in the smallest ways.
Taking care of yourself allows you to keep showing up as your best self for everyone else.
Because when your cup is full, everyone and everything around you benefit.
This is the heart behind BCozyLuxe.
It is never just about pajamas or robes.
It’s about creating moments, soft, intentional, unhurried moments, where you can pour back into yourself and be surrounded by a community of women learning to choose softness, too.
Where you can feel more yourself than just being everything for everyone else.
So, this Mother’s Day, whether you’re celebrating, grieving, reflecting, or just moving through the day quietly, I hope you give yourself permission to pause.
To take up space in your own life.
To choose softness, even if just for a moment.
Because you deserve to experience your life too, and not just get through it.
